Ghanaian coach Desmond Ofei has revealed that merging his dual role as Black Stars assistant coach and Ghana U20 head coach has been a piece of cake for him.

Ofei was recently appointed to replace Joseph Laumann as the first-team assistant coach - together with technical advisor - Winfried Schäfer, Kris Perquy as the new psychologist, Gregory De Grauwe as the video analyst.

They were appointed to bring-in fresh ideas in improving the technical team of the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, following the team's failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON.

In an interview with the GFA media, Ofei said; "Luckily, [Black Stars matches and U20 AFCON] don't clash at all because the tournament with the U20s doesn't fall within the FIFA window. Apart from that, we have a top technical team with the U20s, so it's quite positive.

"It is easy to combine - being assistant coach of Black Stars and head coach of Black Satellites.

"My role is quite simple. My role is to assist the head coach as best as I can. With me, it's about hard work and supporting him at any level, and any areas that we feel we need to improve on."
