Allegations have been made against Richmond Osei, the CEO of Unity FC, a Division One League team, for allegedly selling 15 pairs of football boots supplied by Ghana Football to his club.
As part of the 2022/23 season, each of the 18 Premier League clubs and 48 Division One League teams are entitled to receive 30 pairs of brand-new football boots for free. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has stated that the boots are strictly intended for registered club players.
It has been reported that the players of Unity FC are contemplating boycotting the remaining Division One League Zone 1B matches of the 2022/23 season since the club's CEO has not provided all 30 pairs of boots.
Although the players have accused Richmond Osei of wrongdoing, he has denied their claims and confirmed that he has only distributed 15 pairs of boots to the players thus far.
