Dreams FC head coach Winfred Dormon has backed Abdul Karim Zito to guide Asante Kotoko all the way to the final of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.

Zito, who recently signed a permanent two-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors, will be leading the club into Africa’s second-tier interclub competition. The experienced tactician last featured in the tournament in 2024, when he steered Dreams FC to a historic semi-final appearance with Dormon serving as his assistant.

Speaking to Joy Sports ahead of the preliminary round draw, Dormon was full of praise for Zito’s pedigree and track record.

“Karim Zito is a formidable coach, highly experienced. He has seen it all, and I can only wish him the best. I believe that, just as we achieved success together at Dreams FC, he can maintain that success with Kotoko and even go beyond the semi-final stage,” Dormon said.

Kotoko’s Confederation Cup campaign will begin with a first preliminary round clash against Nigeria’s Kwara United. The first leg will be played in Kumasi between September 19 and 21, with the return fixture in Nigeria from September 26 to 28.

If they progress, the Ghanaian giants will face Moroccan powerhouses Wydad Casablanca in the second preliminary round, scheduled for October 17–19 and October 24–26.
