George Afriyie, a former Ghana Football Association (GFA) vice-president believes the Black Stars are capable of overcoming every opponent in their group at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama for next summer’s tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Afriyie acknowledged the pedigree of Ghana’s opponents but insisted none of them are beyond the reach of the four-time African champions.

“England, Croatia, and Panama are all beatable,” he said.

Afriyie also stressed the need for thorough preparation, calling on the Ghana Football Association to secure top-level friendly matches ahead of the tournament.

“Playing high-profile friendlies is the right approach ahead of the World Cup,” he added.

The Black Stars will open their group campaign against Panama in Toronto on June 17, before facing England in Boston on June 23. They will conclude the group stage against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.

After exiting at the group stage in both Brazil 2014 and Qatar 2022, Ghana will be aiming for a deeper run when they return to the global stage in 2026.
