London City FC star Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah has was named man of the match after helping Ghana’s Black Queens humble Tanzania by 4-1 in Berkane to cruise into the knockout phase of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations
The Queens opened the scoring account through Princella Adubea who pounced on a howler in the 12th minute but the score was subsequently cancelled in the dying embers of the first half courtesy Stumai Athumani
Alice Kusi scored to restore the lead before substitute Evelyn Badu to secure the cushion for Ghana
Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah netted the fourth goal to seal Ghana's emphatic win after making good use of a pass from Nyamekye in the 90th minute of the game
Following the 4-1 win, the Black Queens finished as Group C runner-up with four points while South Africa cemented their top spot with a 4-0 win over Mali, qualifying with seven points. The Malians also qualified to the knockout stage with four points as one of the best third-place teams.
Ghana will face Algeria in the quarter-final stage of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
