The Black Queens of Ghana are highly boosted heading into their make or break encounter against Tanzania today (Monday), in a decisive group stage fixture at the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The match, taking place at Berkane Municipal Stadium, will determine Ghana’s chances of progressing to the knockout stages after a mixed start to the tournament.
Kim Lars Bjorkegren's side must secure all three points to keep their qualification hopes alive, following the 2-0 defeat to defending champions South Africa in their opening game and a pulsating 1-1 draw with Mali in their second game.
Ghana have managed just one point from their first two Group C matches and will have to win or it will be over for them at the continental showpiece
Ahead of the game, Ghana’s Ambassador to Morocco, H.E Charity Gbedawo has confirmed the Sports Ministry led by Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams has settled all unpaid allowances to the girls which she believe will be a source of motivation to secure all three points today
"They had a few challenges along the line... their finances were delayed a bit. But to the glory of God, the Minister for Sports and Recreation (Kofi Iddie Adams) facilitated the quick release of the money, and they have been sorted out," Ghana’s Ambassador to Morocco, Charity Gbedawo, told Joy Sports
"Their morale has gone up, so on this note, I believe that tomorrow's match they are going to make Ghana proud. I know they will score (win) so that they move on (qualify) to the next game."
The game is slated for 19:00GMT (7:00pm) this evening
