New Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz says he plans to continue the progress made by his predecessor Otto Addo rather than rebuild the team from the beginning.
Speaking after his official unveiling, Queiroz praised Addo’s achievements and said the foundation already in place for the Black Stars must be respected and improved.
Addo secured his place in Ghana football history after guiding the team to qualification for both the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Under his leadership, Ghana also remained unbeaten during the 2026 qualifiers, finishing top of their group with 25 points; a campaign that has provided a strong base for the new coach.
Queiroz was quick to acknowledge that achievement and made it clear he intends to build on the progress already made.
“We must improve the legacy of the previous coach, Otto Addo. I thank him very much for qualifying Ghana for the World Cup; that is our goal,” he said.
Rather than making major changes without careful thought, the Portuguese coach explained that his plans will focus on reviewing the team’s past performances and making gradual improvements.
“We are studying and analyzing everything related to the past of the team in order to improve,” Queiroz added.
With preparations already under way, Queiroz’s message suggests a focus on continuity and steady progress as Ghana prepare for the challenges ahead.
