Ghana has been confirmed as host of the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations following an announcement by Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association and 2nd Vice-President of CAF, via his official Facebook page.

The 2027 tournament will mark the 19th edition of the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, Africa’s premier youth competition, which will also serve as the qualification to the FIFA U-20 World Cup which will be co-hosted by Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.

Hosting the tournament represents a major boost for Ghanaian football, as it will be the country’s first time staging the competition in 27 years and only the second time in its history.

Ghana’s U-20 side, the Black Satellites, will be aiming to make a strong impression on home soil after their performance in the 2025 edition in Egypt, where they reached the quarter-finals but narrowly missed out on qualification for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
