Director of Scouting for European giants FC Barcelona, Paulo Araujo is expected to arrive in Ghana by the close of today mainly for a visit at lower-division side Kenpong Football Academy.
Paolo, was appointed by President Joan Laporta to lead the Barcelona scouting department in April 2022 and is almost two years on the job, having previously worked with Premier League side Burnley.
His visit is a reciprocal one since Kenpong Academy also visited the La Liga giants in June last year for a possible partnership between the two sides with a delegation led by their Managing Director Mr. Kennedy Agyapong.
Paolo Araujo is going to stay in the country for the next three days from now, and is expected to inspect the team's facilities very well and offer guidance to them in any blemishes he finds.
Also, he will offer advise to the technical team and players and also watch some of their training sessions before he meets up with some government and non-governmental sports agencies in the country.
Club statement from Kenpong Football Academy regarding Paolo Araujo's arrival:
"This is a reciprocal visit to Kenpong after a high-powered delegation from Kenpong led by its Managing Director, Mr Kennedy Agyepong paid a visit to Barcelona in June 2023 to initiate discussions for a partnership between Kenpong and Barcelona.
''Other members of the delegation included Mr. James Kwasi Appiah, current head coach of the Sudan National Football team and Mr Nikola Jaegerfeld, international relations consultant.
''During the visit, Kenpong held meetings with some board members of Barcelona led by the first vice president of Barcelona, Mr. Rafael Yuste i Abel, members of the coaching and scouting departments of Barcelona, among others.''
