The Black Princesses of Ghana will kickoff their 2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup campaign against USA on Thursday evening at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela.

Coach Ben Fokuo and his girls have qualified for the last six competitions and have failed to go past the group stages and will hope to make it into the knockout stages this time around to break the long standing hoodoo.

The Stars and Stripes on the other hand, also failed to make it from the first round in the last edition and will look to perform beyond that this time as they look to clinch their fourth title as far as this tourney is concerned having won in 2002, 2008 and 2012.
In the same group D, holders Japan will battle it out with the Netherland in what promises to be an epic clash today.
The Ghanaian contingents were camped for almost three months in Prampram before they left for France for their training tour couple of weeks ago.
On their arrival in Europe, the team engaged the French women U-20 side in a preparatory friendly but unfortunately lost by 4-0 at Clairefontaire-en-Yvelines.
The Princesses left for Costa Rica last week and have been preparing immensely towards the competition, having thumped on Club Sport Herediano FF by 6-0 in a friendly.
Big blow for Ghana as skipper Evelyn Badu, who just won the best young player and CAF Inter-club footballer awards at the just ended 2022 CAF awards, is injured and is most likely shee will miss the entire tournament.
Despite this huge miss, head coach Ben Fokuo and Technical Advisor Nora Hauptle will hope to field in a strong line up to face the Yanks today.
