Former Asante Kotoko captain Danlad Ibrahim is reportedly on the cusp of joining a club in Malaysia, according to Wontumi Radio.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper has ended his eight-year stint with the Porcupine Warriors after his contract expired last month.

During his time with Asante Kotoko, Danlad made significant contributions to the team, representing Ghana at various youth levels, including the U-17, U-20, and U-23 teams, as well as the senior national team, the Black Stars. He also represented Ghana at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

However, over the past two seasons, Danlad struggled to maintain his position as the first-choice goalkeeper for Asante Kotoko, eventually losing the slot to Frederick Asare. As a result, he is now set to depart the club, joining over 20 other players who have left the team during the current transfer window.

According to local media reports, Danlad is expected to sign for an unnamed Malaysian club to bolster their goalkeeping department ahead of the new season.

The former Ghana Premier League winner and Africa U-20 Cup of Nations champion has been honored with several individual awards, including the Golden Glove at both the WAFU Zone B U-20 Tournament in 2020 and the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2021, as well as the Ghana Football Awards Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021.

During his final season with Asante Kotoko, Danlad made thirteen appearances for the team in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
