The former vice president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has commended the appointment of Frimpong Manso as head coach of the Black Starlets.

Between 2009 to 2010, Manso was the head coach of the Black Starlets, having previously worked as assistant gaffer of the team. He has also played a role as an assistant coach of the Black Meteors.

According to George Afriyie, the GFA has done a superb job in hiring the Bibiani Goldstars master thinker to take charge of Ghana's U17 team.

“For the first time, the FA has done something positive which needs applause. Frimpong Manso is a fantastic coach. I know I will get backlash from people for saying this. Sometimes the FA isn’t comfortable when I praise someone,” he stated in an audio aired on Kessben FM.

“But I can boldly tell you that his appointment is in the right direction. I have had the opportunity to interview Frimpong Manso before for the same position. Under Kwesi Nyantakyi, appointments weren't done anyhow, appointments to head any of the national teams were done in the right way.

“I’m saying this to clear the doubts of people. Frimpong Manso is one of the best when it comes to writing match reports after a game. He is very good at what he does. That’s a clear indication that he understands his job. And with his appointment, I can say with all certainty that the FA has done a good job with his appointment," Afriyie concluded.
