Vincent Oppong Asamoah, a former deputy Minister of Sports has revealed that he will blatantly reject an appointment from President John Dramani Mahama as Minister for Sports and Recreation.

President Mahama is yet to make known his nominations for the Minister for Sports and Recreation. However, Oppong Asamoah's name has been nominated for the role.

During an interview with Happy Sports, the former Deputy Sports Minister pleaded not to be considered for the top job, citing insults from Ghanaians.

"No I don't wan't it because of these plenty of insults. Even if I will listen to the President, I won't accept a role that is full of insults," Oppong Asamoah underscored.

"Sports is not an option because you'll go home without enough money but with lots of insults."

Oppong Asamoah went ahead to argue that Ghana sports in general is on the decline, advising that Ghana must learn from other countries where sports is on the dominance.

“You will agree with me that sports in Ghana is on the decline. There are some countries doing well and we must look at them and copy what will work for us. We need to go back and find out what went wrong."
