Ghana Football Association President, Kurt E.S. Okraku has confessed the Black Stars were very abysmal in 2024 but how they responded last year showed resilience and has described as a very big statement.

The four-time African conquerors had a very appalling run in 2024 having just two matches including missing out on the last AFCON having finished the qualifying series with no win.

However, the team responded very well last year having gone unbeaten in six competitive matches with five wins and a draw to secure qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup which is less than six months from now.

In an interview on Metro TV, the Ghana FA boss says the team made a huge statement with their performance last year and was a perfect redemption for themselves after what transpired in the prior year.

“The excitement in my heart is that in 2024 the Black Stars struggled, but in 2025 the Black Stars did not lose one competitive game, one official game. That is a big statement. It is a statement that gladdens my heart, that tells me when we stay together, when we work together, when we believe we can always reach our target,” he said.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L of the World Cup alongside 1966 champions England, 2018 finalists Croatia and Panama.

The Black Stars will regroup in March to take on Austria and Germany in friendlies to assess their strength and weaknesses before they step up at the big stage in June.
