The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) held a crucial meeting with Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, during their periodic joint session with Regional Football Association Chairmen.
In a candid and constructive discussion, Coach Addo presented a detailed 56-page Technical Report, which was thoroughly examined by the Executive Council and the Regional Chairmen. Throughout the meeting, Coach Addo responded to questions and provided further insights into the team’s performance.
Taking full responsibility for the Black Stars' underwhelming performance, Coach Addo acknowledged the team's shortcomings and outlined areas requiring improvement. He emphasized his commitment to building a disciplined and accountable team, with a strong focus on creating a cohesive system that integrates both players and backroom staff, while establishing a clear and recognizable playing philosophy.
The Executive Council and Regional Chairmen expressed their shared disappointment over the team's results and reiterated the nation's collective desire to see Ghana qualify for the 2026 World Cup. They stressed the importance of achieving better outcomes, particularly in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Coach Addo was informed that further consultations would take place with key stakeholders in the football ecosystem to devise a comprehensive plan for the future of the national team. The GFA reaffirmed its commitment to making informed, collective decisions in partnership with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the growth and success of Ghanaian football, with a primary focus on restoring the Black Stars to their former glory.
