The Ghana Football Association have announced they will be organizing a testimonial game in honour of Ghana’s great Asamoah Gyan for his distinguished career particularly for the nation. 

The former Black Stars captain enjoyed a long and impressive sixteen-year stay with the senior national team and still remains Ghana’s all-time top scorer with 51 goals in 109 matches. 

Gyan, first debuted for Ghana at senior level in 2003 when he was just 17, against Somalia and scored in that particular game which was a 2006 World Cup qualifier and that marked the beginning of so many great moments in the national colours. 

He scored Ghana’s first goal at the FIFA World Cup in a stunning 2-0 win over Czech Republic in the 2006 edition. Four years later in South Africa, he scored three more goals and and added two in 2014 and is the continent’s top scorer at the Mundial as at now (6 goals) 

Just to mention few, the Ghana Football Association have decided to celebrate Gyan for his contribution to the success of Ghana football by organizing a testimonial game which will feature so many greats but are yet to announce the date and venue for what will be a very proud moment for the former Sunderland striker. 

Asamoah Gyan in his prime played for some European clubs like Modena, Stade Rennes, Sunderland, Udinese Calcio and later had spells in Asia where he worked for A Ain, Al Shabab, Shanghai SIPG and more.
