The 1978 Nations Cup winner is convinced the under-fire manager will remain at post with the four-time African champions and in doing so must inculcate his vision and mission to his charges before the global showpiece qualifiers resume

Ghana legend Mohammed Polo has urged Black Stars coach Otto Addo to put forward his policy and philosophy to his playing body as the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers are set to resume in March next year.

With Ghana failing to secure qualification to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco, the former Hearts of Oak manager has expressed his concerns with the current state of the nation's football development and has called on the football governing body to identify and find remedies to the problems that have bedevilled the sporting discipline thus far.

The Dribbling Magician as affectionately called by fans during his active playing days told Pan-Africa Football ''I think recovery is very very important, we have to find out the reason why we could not qualify [for the 2025 AFCON].

“We have to find out why we didn’t qualify and we have to know why we didn’t qualify and find the solution to it. This involves even the players themselves because we are doubting whether the coach [Otto Addo] would go or stay but it looks like he would stay.

“So there is an opportunity for him to know the players he is going to work with and put down his philosophy and policy for them. This coach has play an important role for the players if we want to qualify for the World Cup [in 2026].

“He has to put them together and discuss all these things with them so that find we out where the source of the problem is. “We are all blaming the coach because he is in charge, we are all blaming the Ghana FA because they are in charge of football.

“The Ghana FA must find the reason why this has happened and find solutions to them.”

Ghana will face Chad and Madagascar for the resumption of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March next year.
