Ghanaian politician Haruna Iddrisu's club, Steadfast FC, is set to receive a significant windfall following the permanent transfer of star winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku to Leicester City.

The English Premier League club has activated the €17 million (14 million pounds) clause for the talented winger, who played 60% of games as they gained promotion.

Since Sporting Lisbon purchased Issahaku in 2022 for €1.2 million, the value gained on the transfer will be €15.8 million (after deducting their €1.2 million from the €17 million), which will be shared by Steadfast and the Portuguese club.

Issahaku's impressive performances earned him a permanent move to Leicester City, where he will add to their attacking options. He registered seven goals and 13 assists last season, and his form improved as the campaign progressed.

The 21-year-old winger began his senior career with Steadfast FC, where his impressive performances earned him a loan move to Ghanaian Premier Division side Dreams FC in October 2021. He continued his fine form before transferring to Sporting Lisbon in April 2022.

Issahaku made his senior debut for the Portuguese side against Rio Ave in August 2022 and participated in their UEFA Champions League campaign that season. He has also represented Ghana at the international level, featuring in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and more recently in the Africa Cup of Nations.

He will reunite with his Leicester City teammates as they prepare for the Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, August 19.
