The talented teenage sensation, who had a successful trial with an Abu Dhabi-based club this summer, is fancying a move to Europe rather than the Middle East given his age as a budding star

Ghanaian starlet YAKUBU IDDRISU has said that he prefers to start his professional football career with European clubs as against clubs from the Gulf Region after undergoing a successful trial with UAE Pro League side FC Baniyas ahead of the start of the 2026-27 football season.

The 19-year-old promising attacking midfielder is currently boasting of an enviable talent and such potential is highly-rated across the length and breadth of the west African nation.

However, in an interview with KICKGH, the ball-playing midfielder says it would be a dream come true for him to move to Europe at his early stages of development so as to realise his full potential over his young footballing career.

He said: " l have been keeping myself active with personal training sessions since l returned from the UAE. Currently, l could say that l have gained some level of experience when it comes to playing abroad even though it was trials, but l have really learned a lot from that.

''Honestly speaking, l would prefer to start with my professional career in Europe rather than the Gulf Region, although the club (FC Baniyas) were ready to recruit me into their youth team.

He continued: "So, right now, my focused mindset is on how l could work hard and get myself linked up with any European club and l believe with God's interventions, my ambitions to go to Europe and continue with my young footballing career would surely come to pass very soon.

''l can confide in you that, there is currently an interest from an African club but due to some reasons, my guardians are not ready to allow me to go as l continue to remain as a free agent and without any binding contract with any club."

Iddrisu, who stands at 5.6 metre tall, has already enjoyed spells with Ghanaian clubs Techiman Proud United FC U-17 and Nadm Soccer Club.
