Maxwell Konadu, a former assistant coach of the Black Stars has urged Ghanaians to keep their cool with Coach Otto Addo as he navigates his way in building a formidable team.
Konadu believes that the coach will come up with a strong team when allowed time to implement his strategies and build a cohesive team, especially given his relatively limited experience.
“Ghanaians adore football; when things go well, they lavish praise on you; when things go wrong, the country becomes split, and that is how the game has sadly become,” he noted.
“We simply need to be patient occasionally (on Otto Addo), but how many individuals can be patient? Today's generation will not be patient with you,” Konadu added.
Otto Addo has begun to win back public trust after the Black Stars returned to winning ways despite failing to qualify for the 2025 Afcon which is scheduled to come off later this year.
In the Black Stars two World Cup qualifying games in March, 2025, the team secured impressive wins over Chad (5-0) and shellacked Madagascar 3-0, to send a strong message to their rivals, reinforcing their ambitions of qualifying for the next stage, as the top nine from African confederation (CAF) qualify directly for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
