Director of Sports at the University of Ghana, Dr. Austin Luguterah, believes hosting the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship greatly attunes with the university’s objectives and strategic directions as they are committed to student advancement.

The University of Ghana Stadium will be used as the main venue for the tournament, which takes place from 21st April to 26, 2025.

The 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship is an annual African schools association football competition launched in 2022 and organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), with its main focus to develop organised football at school level on the continent for boys and girls.

For the first time, a West Africa nation will be hosting the championship, and preparations are already in progress to make sure Ghana rolls out a spectacular occasion.

"This event offers a great platform not only for young talents across Africa but also for the University of Ghana to demonstrate its readiness and commitment to supporting sports at the highest level," Dr. Luguterah told Citi Sports.

"As is standard with international competitions, inspections will be done to ensure all facilities meet the required benchmarks. For us, it’s mainly pitch work ; not that the stadium is defaced or anything of that sort.

"These are improvements that were already noted during the African Games. In fact, we were told that most pitches across the country, not just ours, needed upgrades to meet international standards,” he explained.
