The heat is on ahead of this season’s MTN FA Cup final, and Golden Kick FC CEO Joseph Epton has cranked up the pressure with a bold declaration aimed straight at Asante Kotoko.
In a fiery interview with Asempa FM, the Golden Kick boss made it clear that his side won’t be showing any respect on the pitch when the two teams lock horns in the highly anticipated showdown on Sunday, June 15, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. Kick off at 17:00 GMT.
“They (Asante Kotoko) are going to be a tough opponent,” Epton said. “But for 90 minutes, we will beat them.”
Golden Kick’s fairy-tale run to the final has already shocked many in the Ghanaian football community, knocking out several top-tier teams; the likes of Hearts of Oak, etc, along the way. Now, Epton believes the momentum and belief in their fold are at an all-time high.
“We respect them, but in the end, we are confident that we can win the match. Everybody starts from a point. In life, you have to learn to start walking before you start running. Golden Kick will also do that,” he added.
Golden Kick’s rise from relative obscurity to cup finalists has captured the hearts of many neutrals, and Epton's words are likely to add even more fuel to an already electric atmosphere ahead of kickoff.
