Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton has heaped praises on Hafiz Konkoni whom he stated is gelling well with the team and believes he still has a lot of development process to go through as they prepare for Madagascar in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers this weekend
The 24 year old is the only local player in the Black Stars squad following his impressive performance for Bechem United in the just ended GPL season.
He netted 15 goals but unfortunately missed out on the golden boot to Abednego Tetteh who had three more goals over the former to win the race.
The lanky forward was involved in all two training sessions the Black Stars have had so far at the Accra Sports Stadium and coach Chris Hughton is really impressed but not surprised as he's already known him to be a promising striker.
"I was fortunate to watch him live last weekend. I have been able to watch him on video. I thought he did well today [in training]. It wasn’t a surprise because he is a player I have enjoyed watching. He is a young player so I think he has a lot of development still. Speaking to him I think he is quite a mature player for his age,” Chris Hughton said in a pre-match presser.
Hafiz Konkoni will hope to finally make his debut for the Black Stars against the Bareas on Sunday, June 18 in Antananarivo.
