The no-nonsense experienced tactician feels the appointment of the temporary coaching staff of the four-time African Champions to oversee the upcoming continental showpiece qualifying campaign would not help matters for the west African powerhouse

Veteran Ghana coach Bashir Hayford has described the decision of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to appoint lnterim Technical Team for the Black Stars 2027 AFCON qualifiers double-header against Somalia as ''dangerous and surprising''.

The former Asante Kotoko manager believes the appointment of Swedish coach Kim Lars Björkegren and the indigenous assistant coaches lbrahim Tanko and Godwin Attram, could be a misplaced priority to the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation over the cause of the Ghana national team ahead of their must-win qualifying encounters for the November fixture against Somalia.

Speaking in an interview, the 68-year-old former Black Queens boss is of the view that attaining success as a coach doesn't depend on someone's immediate environment, but to be in a viable place with the right people who would help you thrive on your work is what it needed most.

The quick-tempered experienced gaffer told Kumasi-based Kessben FM: ''I was the first coach to lead Somalia to victory in an international match. I have come to realise that it’s not about where you are, but where you belong. The appointment of the Black Stars interim coaches is dangerous and surprising.''
