Sports Minister Kofi Adams has been commended for the key role he played during Ghana's 2026 World Cup qualifying triumph.
The Black Stars wrecked Chad 5-0 and pulled a 3-0 win over Madagascar in the match-day 5 and 6 encounter.
The win against Chad and Madagascar helped Ghana to extend their lead at the top of Group I to 15 points, three above second-placed Comoros.
Throughout 2024, Otto Addo's led Black Stars had a torrid time - securing just two wins - against Mali by 2–1 on 6 June, making the victory the first away win since 2022. The Black Stars won 4-3 against Central African Republic on 10 June 2024, in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
However, in the Ghana FA, coach Otto Addo, and the Sports and Recreation Ministry's quest to transform the team with the management team being restructured, which includes Dr. Randy Abbey as Chairman and Stephen Appiah as Vice Chairman.
Meanwhile, Speaking to 3Sports about the sudden rise, Dr. Randy Abbey linked the victories to painstaking preparation implemented by sector Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams.
“He’s been very, very instrumental. If you know what he went through to ensure that the stadium was ready, all that the team required was ready; I mean, he had to. There was a day that I was with him till 2am, just to make sure that everything was available for this team. He worked extremely well. He did everything that a minister should do, even including things out of the ordinary, to ensure that everything will go on smoothly.”
“I’ll like to thank him for what he has done for the team and I hope that we’ll continue working together as a team and continue to do what we need to do for Ghana football,” he added.
