Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has expressed his team's commitment to winning the 2024 Homowo Cup in their upcoming clash against Heart of Lions.

The Phobians are eager to lift the ceremonial trophy in this preseason friendly, which is scheduled for Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

During a press conference on Wednesday, the Ivorian coach acknowledged the match as part of their preseason preparations but emphasized the importance of securing a victory. "It's part of the pre-season matches. After that, we can get another match. But for me, it's normal we get a match at that appropriate time. We don't talk about the win now. We talk about the match," said Ouattara.

He continued by underscoring the competitive spirit of his team, stating, "We are going to play the match. We will try to put our best team to play well. It's not the first and the last one."

Despite recognizing the friendly nature of the game, Ouattara made it clear that his team is focused on bringing the Cup home. "No team can tell you they are going to play the final and don't need to win. We need to bring the Cup back. It's football," he added.

The Phobians will be looking to rebound from their recent defeat to Asante Kotoko in the Democracy Cup.
