Berekum Chelsea forward Stephen Amankona has underlined his commitment to goal scoring, insisting that as a striker, finding the back of the net remains his foremost duty on the pitch.
Speaking in a recent interview, Amankona highlighted his personal responsibility and work ethic in front of goal:
"As a striker, your responsibility is to score goals, and I always work hard to get the goals."
The 24-year-old has been in excellent form for Berekum Chelsea in the ongoing 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, serving as one of the team’s most consistent performers.
Amankona has netted 10 goals in 28 league appearances, making him the club’s top scorer this season. In addition to his goal tally, he has provided 4 assists, contributing directly to 14 of Chelsea’s total goals in the campaign.
His sharp movement, clinical finishing, and leadership in the attacking third have made him a central figure in the club’s push for a strong league finish. His goals have come at crucial moments, including match-winners against Dreams FC and Legon Cities, showcasing his reliability in tight contests.
Amankona, who previously captained the side before a brief stint with Asante Kotoko, returned to Berekum Chelsea ahead of the current season and has since rediscovered his best form. His resurgence has also sparked interest from other top-tier clubs, with many lauding his consistency and maturity.
With just a few matches remaining in the league, Amankona remains focused on helping Berekum Chelsea climb further up the table and possibly end the season on a high.
Berekum Chelsea currently sit mid-table and will take on Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
