Chief Executive Officer of Bibiani GoldStars, Akwasi Adu, has lauded the relentless efforts of club managers and financiers in the Ghana Premier League, describing them as “magicians” for their ability to sustain operations despite the ongoing lack of sponsorship in the league.
The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season is nearing its conclusion without a headline sponsor, a reality that has placed significant financial strain on all 18 competing clubs.
Despite these hardships, Adu commended the resilience and dedication of club executives who continue to ensure that league fixtures are honoured weekly.
“I should say this on behalf of all 18 Premier League clubs: the managers and financiers are magicians. Travelling across all regional boundaries without a sponsor is very difficult. We are all hoping to resolve this situation as quickly as possible,” Adu told Citi Sports.
He emphasized that the commitment shown by club officials under such conditions speaks volumes about their passion for the development of Ghanaian football.
Adu also revealed that Bibiani GoldStars are actively working behind the scenes to secure a sponsorship deal ahead of the 2025/26 season. The team has enjoyed an impressive campaign so far and currently sits second on the Ghana Premier League table with 54 points, closely trailing the leaders.
“The competitive nature of this year’s title race, despite the challenges, should attract potential sponsors. We hope this will be a turning point for local football,” he added.
Bibiani GoldStars will look to maintain their title charge when they host Asante Kotoko next weekend at the DUN’s Park in what promises to be one of the defining matches of the season.
