Head coach of Ghana's home-based national team, Annor Walker has explained the reason he excluded Kotoko skipper Abdul Ganiyu Ismail from his latest Black Stars B squad.
The Great Olympics gaffer announced a list of 35 players last Thursday to report for immediate camping ahead of the upcoming qualifiers of the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN)
Astonishingly, the Porcupine Warriors who are currently leading the Ghanaian topflight had only three players in the squad whiles their arc rivals Hearts of Oak were the team with the most, having seven of their players handed call ups.
With this, the experience gaffer has defended himself that, he only left out the reliable centre-back mainly due to match fitness since he was just returning from almost a month injury though he featured in their last league fixture.
“I give a call-up according to performances. When you talk of Ganiyu he is coming from injury and of late his performance is not good with Kotoko for now.”
"Maybe until he gets well and picks his form I don’t have a problem.” He told Ghanasportspage.com
The Black Stars B have been absent in the last three CHAN tournament and will offer all they could this time against the Benin Squirrels to secure qualification.
