Former Black Stars head coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor reveals that he found it difficult making call-ups at the Ghanaian national team because the team was struggling.

C.K Akonnor was appointed as the Black Stars gaffer in January 2020, to steer the affairs of the national team.

He was axed amidst a series of poor outings, which threatened Black Stars world cup qualification, in September 2021.

Subsequently, Milovan Rajevac was appointed to replace the former Black Stars captain as the head coach.

Ghana have qualified for the world cup in Qatar, and have been drawn with Uruguay, South Korea and Portugal in the group stage.

Speaking to Akoma FM, the 48-year-old gaffer says he found it difficult making call-ups as he admits that the Ghanaian national team was struggling during his time.

"Black Stars at my time was struggling, the whole team was not stable, sometimes when making call up you don't even know how many players to call," he revealed.

"At Black Stars it was a different story and one day I will tell it," he added.
