West African Football Academy (WAFA) located in the Volta Region of Ghana, is most likely to be closedown in what is attributed to so many factors, according to reports in the local media this morning.
Formerly, the football entity was referred to as Feyenoord Soccer Academy, due to the partnership they had with the parent club in Holland and was located at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.
However, new owners later took over and changed their name and location, giving it a different identity from then.
The new owner Mr. Henri J.M Wientjes, who is mainly a Dutch agricultural entrepreneur also passed on painfully in early 2021 after years of successful and impressive management of the academy.
The club was still running until they sadly got relegated into the country's second tier after finishing 17th in the just ended 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
However, the strange reports coming in from probably one of the best academies on the continent is that, the facility is likely to be closed down with all players sent home since the Ghana FA are yet to pay heed to their proposal.
The team use to play in zone two when in division one but have now written to the GFA to seek change to compete in zone three instead in order to reduce cost of travelling and others but the proposal per rumours has been disregarded.
