Athletic Bilbao forward, Inaki Williams, has affirmed his contentment with his choice to play for Ghana, the homeland of his parents, rather than Spain.

The 28-year-old made the announcement on July 5, 2022, declaring his availability for the West African nation just ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Born in Spain, Williams earned his maiden call-up for Ghana in September, featuring in friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua. He debuted against Brazil, contributing in the second half of the 3–0 defeat in Le Havre. His commitment to Ghana was further underscored when he was named in the squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

"I had to make a decision and I don't regret being able to represent the country of my parents, my family. I think I'm in one of my best moments because of that decision I made to play with Ghana," he told CdelDeportista reflecting on his choice.

Williams participated in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations with Ghana, although the squad was eliminated early in the group stage in Ivory Coast.

To date, the 29-year-old has amassed 17 caps for Ghana, netting once, solidifying his commitment to the Black Stars.
