Ghana legend, Asamoah Gyan has confessed how elated he felt after Spanish youngster Nico Williams chose him as his idol in a recent interview and described him as one of the most promising players in world football currently.
Nico, happens to be the younger brother of Inaki Williams, and also plies his trade with La Liga side Athletic Bilbao where he's been very impressive since getting into the first team.
The 22-year-old played an instrumental role recently in Spain's fourth Euros success and was involved in three goals at the end of the tourney including one in the final against England.
After his outstanding display, Nico Williams tagged former Sunderland and Udinese Calcio forward Asamoah Gyan as the player he loved watching and looked up to growing up.
In response to those comments, Asamoah Gyan, who is still Ghana's all-time top scorer with 51 goals, stated he was excited to hear that and feels that will make the world know the impact he made in his prime. He said this in an interview with David Ofori Sarfo on UTV;
"I felt very happy when Nico Williams said he idolizes me because I think people have start recognizing what we did for the nation during our time."
"Nico had a good tournament, he is one of the most promising player in the world and attracted by top clubs so I felt happy with the remarks he gave me."
Nico Williams is currently being chased by lots of European giants including FC Barcelona, PSG etc in the ongoing summer transfer window.
