Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams has brushed off the long-standing rumors of an existing ‘mafia’ within the ministry credited with numerous wrongdoings.

According to the minister, after assuming office on Monday, February 10, 2025, he is yet to experience the so-called mafia activities of which he had heard so much about.

“I have heard that, but I haven’t seen it since coming here. It’s been normal business for me. We all have our style. And the reaction is sometimes based on the action.," Adams stated on Channel One TV’s Face to Face which was aired on Tuesday, April 15.

“Maybe my action is not generating that type of reaction that has been seen in the past, but it’s given me results.  I wouldn’t say it’s mafia, but I heard they say it’s mafia. Everybody warns you to be careful, they are this, they are that. I haven’t truly seen what they have been telling me – that they can set you up with money and what have you,” he noted.

Adams further clarified that his job as Minister doesn't include administering of funds, making it difficult to implicate him in financial malpractices.

“As a minister, your duty is not to handle money; you are not the lead spender of the funds, and you are not a signatory to the account,” he emphasised.
