Black Stars head coach, Otto Addo, has issued a heartfelt apology to Ghanaians following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

After Ghana's 2-1 defeat to Niger on Monday, which sealed their exit from the qualification race, Addo expressed profound regret over the team’s performance and the disappointment it caused the nation.

In a somber post-match interview, the coach acknowledged the pain felt by the country, recognizing the significance of the Black Stars' absence from Morocco for the upcoming continental tournament.

“I am ready to apologise. I am so sorry that we did not do well and qualify. I am sorry because I know how it feels and how Ghanaians are hurt. I am so sorry,” Coach Addo said, reflecting on the failure.

Throughout the qualification series, Ghana struggled, failing to secure a single win in six matches. With only three points, the Black Stars finished at the bottom of Group F, marking a disastrous campaign.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to meet on Wednesday to discuss the future of the Black Stars and determine the next steps following this qualification setback.
