Former Ghanaian international Sam Johnson has thrown his support behind Asamoah Gyan's eagerness to be part of the Black Stars 2022 FIFA World Cup squad if only he will start playing actively.

Gyan couple of days ago, granted an interview with BBC where disclosed he hasn't retired yet and is even contemplating to play at the next World Cup which will be staged in Qatar in November.

Now these comments has sparked a huge hullabaloo in the country with divided opinions among the football fans as some believe his service is still needed whiles others think he is finished in the game.

Giving his view on the said topic, 'Foyoo' as he is famously referred especially in his playing days, has backed Asamoah Gyan and is hopeful he will make the cut if he starts playing active football from now. He told OTEC FM in Kumasi;

"All of us will start campaigning for Gyan to be part of the Black stars team if we see him playing active football before the start of the World Cup because we know what he can do."

Asamoah Gyan still remains Ghana and Africa's all time top scorer at the Mundial with five goals.
