Former Black Stars goalie Danlad Ibrahim has heaped praise on his colleague Benjamin Asare for his outstanding performance recently and has wished well ahead of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Danlad, who made the Black Stars squad for the last edition in 2022 in Qatar, described the lanky goalie as a great shot-stopper and is genuinely praying that he excels at the Mundial
“Benjamin Asare is my senior, so it wouldn’t be right for me to advise him. I can only seek God’s luck, favour, and strength for him, to protect him from any disgrace or injuries," he told 3Sports.
"I really admire his conduct both on and off the pitch, and I pray that he performs exceptionally well for Ghana in the tournament,” Danlad added.
The 23-year-old now plays for Ethiopian Coffee SC, and is enjoying a new challenge in the Ethiopian topflight after ending his eight-year spell with Asante Kotoko SC - a period that included loan stints with Berekum Chelsea and King Faisal Babies.
The enterprising netminder has gone through the ranks very well having represented Ghana at youth level, where he’s featured for the Black Starlets, Black Satellites, Black Meteors and Black Stars all at major tournaments.
The four-time African champions will regroup later this month to play Austria and Germany in pre- World Cup friendlies in the March international window.
