Former Communications Director of the GFA, Ibrahim Saani Daara has urged football stakeholders to pay attention to concerns about the Ghana Football Association, pointing to the unusual agreement between the Majority and Minority in Parliament.

In an interview with Asempa FM in Accra, Saani Daara said the fact that both sides were speaking out about the association should prompt reflection within Ghana football.

“The Minority in Parliament have spoken, and I also saw that the Majority in Parliament are speaking, and these two parties have never agreed on an issue, but because of the GFA, they are one. That means we have to be careful. Football people, let’s watch our mouths,” he said.

He firmly believes the concerns raised by lawmakers reflect issues that people within the football community should have been discussing more openly.

According to him, the Minority had brought attention to matters that some football stakeholders were afraid to address themselves.

“The Minority said what football people were too scared to say, and if we’re honest, it exposed what we should have been saying ourselves,” he said.

He further pointed to questions surrounding the performance of Ghana’s national youth teams and the pathway for young players to reach the senior Black Stars. Saani Daara said conversations with football stakeholders had revealed concerns about the progress of the youth teams.

He argued that the football community must be willing to confront those concerns honestly rather than dismiss the criticism.
