Former National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah says he is confident of being cleared of any wrongdoing in the ongoing investigations into alleged visa racketeering linked to Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Ampofo Ankrah was suspended following allegations that about $623,000 had been collected from prospective travellers seeking assistance with visa applications and travel arrangements for the tournament.

Despite the allegations, the former NSA boss maintains that he has done nothing wrong and expects the investigation to clear his name when the final report is released.

“I’m 200% confident that I’ll be exonerated,” Ampofo Ankrah said, expressing strong belief in the outcome of the ongoing process.

The renowned journalist further cautioned the public against making claims that cannot be substantiated, urging people to be careful about the information they share while the investigations remain ongoing.

“I’m very happy that so far the investigations have gone very smoothly, and we’re just waiting for the final report to be released,” he added, as he awaits the conclusion of the probe.
