Medeama SC Chief Executive Officer James Essilfie has expressed confidence that midfielder Salim Adams will make Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, despite his omission from the latest 26-man Black Stars squad for upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany.

Speaking to Medeama FM, Essilfie admitted he had expected Adams to be named but remains confident that the 23-year-old midfielder can make the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup if he continues his strong performances.

“I’m a bit surprised Salim Adams didn’t earn a call-up,” Essilfie said. “But I’m confident he will be included in the World Cup squad if he keeps working hard.”

Adams has been one of Medeama’s standout performers this season, scoring five goals in 21 league appearances as the Tarkwa-based club push for their second Ghana Premier League title. Since joining in the 2025/26 season, he has become a key figure under coach Ibrahim Tanko, combining energy, creativity, and tactical intelligence in midfield.

The midfielder also brings prior international experience, having represented Ghana’s U23 team, and has developed through Hearts of Oak SC before a loan stint with FC Cincinnati 2 in the United States, which helped refine his technical and physical abilities.
