James Essilfie, Chief Executive Officer of Medeama SC, has expressed surprise over the omission of midfielder Salim Adams from the latest 26-man Ghana national football team squad for upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany
Speaking to Medeamaa FM, Essilfie admitted he expected Adams to be included but remains confident the 23-year-old can feature in Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad if he maintains his form.
“I’m a bit surprised Salim Adams didn’t earn a call-up,” Essilfie said. “But I’m confident he will be included in the World Cup squad if he keeps working hard.”
Adams has been one of Medeama’s standout performers this season, scoring five goals in 21 league appearances as the Tarkwa-based side push for a second league title. Since joining at the start of the 2025/26 campaign, he has become a key player in head coach Ibrahim Tanko’s setup, blending energy, creativity, and tactical intelligence in midfield.
The midfielder has previous international experience, having represented Ghana’s U23 side, and previously developed at Hearts of Oak SC before a loan stint at FC Cincinnati 2 in the United States, which helped sharpen his technical and physical attributes.
