Black Princesses captain, Afi Amenyaku, expressed her elation at leading the team to victory in the 2023 African Games women’s football tournament.
As a key figure in the squad, the goalkeeper played a pivotal role in Ghana's unbeaten run throughout the tournament, culminating in an extra-time triumph over Nigeria in the final at the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday.
Reflecting on the historic win, Amenyaku shared her excitement in an interview with Joy Sports, stating, “It’s a dream come true for me as the captain to lead the team to win gold. This is my first time captaining the team in a tournament, and I’m very happy to be able to win gold.”
