Black Maidens head coach Joe Nana Adarkwah has praised his players for their efforts at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup despite their quarter-final elimination following a 1-0 defeat to Japan.
Ghana’s campaign came to an end after Nanami Kurita scored the decisive goal in the 54th minute, giving Japan a narrow victory and a place in the semi-finals.
Despite the disappointment of missing out on the last four, Adarkwah expressed satisfaction with his team’s attitude and determination throughout their journey in the competition.
“We did our best, but we’re happy at the end of the journey. We didn’t give up. We’re proud of ourselves, and I’m proud of that,” he said.
The experienced coach acknowledged the importance of the experience gained by his players, insisting that their efforts remained a source of pride despite the result against Japan.
“We go back home, work harder and see what happens. We’ll be here next year,” he added, looking ahead to the team’s next opportunity to compete on the global stage.
