Ghana captain Jordan Ayew says the Black Stars are determined to put in good performances in their upcoming friendly matches against Austria and Germany.

Ghana will first face Austria at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna on Friday, before travelling to Stuttgart to play four-time world champions Germany on Monday.

The matches form part of the team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana will meet Panama, Croatia and England in the group stage.

Speaking before the games, Ayew said every match matters, while recognising the importance of the upcoming fixtures.

“Every game is important. Even though we know these two games are really important, previously the other games were important as well. But sometimes, it is what it is,” he said.

He expects both matches to be challenging.

“Tomorrow is going to be a tough game, and Monday will be a tough game, so we’ll do our best,” he added.

Ayew also said the team’s preparation has been encouraging ahead of the friendlies.

“We are preparing really well tactically, technically and physically. We’re looking good, so let’s see what happens,” he noted.

The silky forward said he hopes Ghana can start strongly and build energy as they look ahead to the World Cup.
