Asante Kotoko’s management has revealed that no decision has been made regarding the appointment of a permanent head coach for next season, leaving open the possibility of Karim Zito continuing the head coach role.

Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, the club’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, clarified that there have been no official discussions with any potential candidates for the position. Duku addressed recent media reports linking various coaches to the job, expressing surprise at the rumors circulating about the club’s coaching future.

“We (management) have not considered employing a substantive head coach,” Duku said. “We are startled by the names being circulated in the media, as we have not had any discussions with any coaches.”

He went on to say that, although there have been no final decisions, it’s still possible for Zito to continue as head coach, or for a new coach to be appointed after the current season. However, he emphasized that any such decisions would be made after thorough discussions with coaches and key stakeholders.

“In football, anything is possible. Karim Zito could take over as head coach, or a new coach could be chosen, but this would only happen after the season and after multiple talks with the coaches and essential stakeholders,” Duku stated.

Asante Kotoko’s current focus remains on their ongoing campaign, with their ambition of securing the double—both the domestic league and cup trophies—remaining their top priority.

“Our goal of winning the double remains intact, and that is our primary focus right now,” Duku concluded, signaling that the club is fully committed to finishing the season strong regardless of the coaching situation.
