Black Galaxies head coach, Kassim Ocansey Mingle has justified his reasons of excluding Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare from the squad for the pre-AFCON friendly against South Africa on December 16.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) has confirmed that Bafana Bafana will wrap up their preparations for the 2026 AFCON with a final game against the home-based national team of Ghana in South Africa.
Upon the squad announcement, many a Ghanaian faithful disagreed and asked why Asare who is currently the country’s first-choice in goal hasn’t made the list
Speaking on Sporty FM, the former Bechem United and Nations FC gaffer says Benjamin Asare has already proven to be the best in the country reason he is now with the senior national team reason he feels there’s no need to invite him especially for a friendly like this
“There’s no reason to keep calling up Benjamin Asare to the Black Galaxies when he already has a spot in the Black Stars and has justified himself at that level. It doesn’t make sense to invite him to the Galaxies again just to 'justify' himself.”
South Africa are in Group B in the AFCON, and they will face Egypt, Angola, and Zimbabwe
The Bafana Bafana will play their first match of the continental tournament against Angola on 22 December 2025
