Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum has successfully undergone surgery following a brief illness, the club announced on Wednesday.

While the specific illness was not disclosed, the club confirmed the procedure's success, noting that Ogum is now concentrating on regaining full fitness before the next season.

“Our head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has undergone a successful surgery after a short illness. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back soon,” read the message on social media.

Ogum, who also serves on the club’s Interim Management Committee, is spearheading the restructuring of the playing squad. The club has parted ways with 19 players, including notable names like goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad and striker Steven Mukwala.

“We need to do a lot of structural changes in the playing body with respect to signing some players to augment the squad. This time not players from lower division but players who have seen it in the Premier League,” the 46-year-old told the club’s media earlier in the month.

“We need to go there as early as possible to make sure that the players that we want we are able to get them as quickly as possible.”

Kotoko ended last season without a trophy, finishing sixth in the Ghana Premier League.
