Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has worked under lots of top managers in his active playing days, and has chosen French gaffer Claude Le Roy as the best to ever coach him.

Gyan played under the 76-year-old at the Black Stars for the period of two years having taken over the team in 2006, after Ghana's first FIFA World Cup campaign.

The French gaffer guided the four-time African champions to a third-place finish in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations which was hosted in Ghana.

Speaking in a recent interview on Y FM, the former Udinese and Sunderland forward heaped so much praises on Claude Le Roy and added he always felt very comfortable playing under him.

"Jones Attuquayefio took me from Liberty Professionals, gave me confidence, and I reached the highest level. But I've had a lot of great coaches. I had good coaches under whom I scored goals, and they also benefited from me. But the coach with whom I felt more comfortable because he gives you a role to play and guides you, I think it was Claude Le Roy," he said.

"He knows he is my favourite. He has my style. He will give you the confidence in the world to do anything you want to do," he added.

Asamoah Gyan finished his career as Ghana's all-time top scorer with 51 goals, and is still Africa's top scorer at the FIFA World Cup with six goals.
