Former Asante Kotoko striker, Stephen Manu, famously known as ‘BA’, has urged all supporters of his former club to be patient with their current squad stating they have assembled a strong one and will be fearsome very soon when they all gel into the system of the coach.
The criticism started coming through after the team’s awful and embarrassing run in the just-ended GHALCA Top 4 tournament where they accumulated no point after three matches with the last defeat coming against their eternal rivals Asante Kotoko.
However, just few months ago, the new guys played a pivotal role in helping the Porcupine Warriors win the Democracy Cup and also defeated South African giants Kaizer Chiefs via penalty shootout to add up the Toyota Cup
This is why Stephen Manu, who later joined New Edubiase FC, feels putting pressure on the current squad won’t help and added he is very impressed with the recruitment the club has done so far. He told Kumasi-based Kessben FM;
"I believe Kotoko's poor performance in the just-ended GHALCA Top 4 is down to fatigue. They've assembled a strong squad, and people shouldn't overcriticize them - it's too early.
“For years, player recruitment at Kotoko has involved various stakeholders beyond just coaches, and this practice has helped the club. So, no one should begrudge them their approach."
Asante Kotoko will be hoping to seek redemption when they face Bibiani GoldStars in the Champion of Champions’ clash tomorrow at the Dun’s Park.
