Sudan national team head coach, Kwesi Appiah has officially returned to take up his position as a member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council.

Appiah resumed his duties following the expiration of his temporary suspension by the GFA on November 30, 2024. This has been confirmed by Appiah’s personal assistant, Asante Forkuo.

“Per the letter written by Coach Kwasi Appiah to GFA and copied to CAF, he has now returned as an Executive Council Member of GFA,” Asante Forkuo wrote on his X page.

“The temporary suspension (Step-Aside) ended on 30th November 2024.”

On Monday, October 7, the former Ghana coach was officially asked to resign by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) from one of his roles as head coach of Sudan or Executive Council member of the GFA before the Ghana versus Sudan game.

According to CAF, this was to stop any conflict of interest ahead of their 2025 AFCON Qualifiers. Appiah was elected to ascend to the Ghana FA Executive Council position-representing Asante Kotoko.

Prior to that, Appiah's spokesman Asante Forkuo, said; "Coach Kwasi Appiah has temporarily stepped aside as an Executive Council member of the GFA until the end of November 2024. This decision, in response to the CAF communication copied to the GFA, was made to prevent any conflict of interest. Since the AFCON qualifiers began, Appiah has refrained from participating in all EXCO activities."
